| SURFACE PREPARATION | The surface to be primed must be clean and free from dirt, dust, grease, rust, and scale. For new steel surfaces: Solvent wash with a paint compatible solvent such as Viking Thinner (VFS-171), and allow to dry before priming. For rusted, heavily scaled, or previously painted surfaces: Media blasting is recommended. If this is not practical, use other conventional methods. | ||||||||||||||||
| MIXING INSTRUCTIONS | With very large surfaces, or under hot humid conditions, it may be necessary to use a retarder solvent such as Viking Retarder Solvent (VOS-187) to maintain a uniform application. Mix a small amount to checking compatibility before proceeding. Avoid "overkill" with retarder solvent, which needlessly slows drying times. Start with 4oz. of retarder solvent and 28 ounces of thinner per gallon. If this is not adequate, move to 8 oz. of retarder solvent, and test results. This should be adequate to slow down to the desired drying time. | ||||||||||||||||
